Water Heater Installation

We all know the feeling of jumping into the shower only to get blasted with ice-cold water… If you’ve been there, you know exactly what we’re talking about. We’ve seen it all: water heaters that give up right before the holidays, tanks that start leaking at 2 AM, and units that make sounds like a freight train coming through your garage.

At Manatee Plumbing, we proudly serve homeowners with water heater installation in Inglis and the surrounding areas. We understand how frustrating water heater problems can be. Whether yours just died or you’re tired of running out of hot water halfway through your shower, we’re here to help.
Our team installs both traditional tank systems and modern tankless units, and we’ll help you figure out which one actually makes sense for your home.

Why You Shouldn't Try Installing a Water Heater Yourself

We appreciate a good DIY project as much as anyone. But water heater installation? That’s one you really want to leave to the pros. You’re dealing with gas lines (or serious electrical work), water connections that need to be perfect, and building codes that aren’t exactly light reading.

We’ve been called out to fix more than a few “weekend projects gone wrong,” and trust us, it’s always more expensive to fix a bad installation than it would’ve been to just call a plumber in the first place. Plus, if you mess up the install, you can kiss that manufacturer’s warranty goodbye.

Living here in Inglis means dealing with Florida’s hard water and humidity, which are tough on water heaters. We know what holds up well in these conditions and what doesn’t. That local knowledge matters when you’re investing in a new system.

Water Heater Replacement

If your water heater’s been around for more than a decade, it’s living on borrowed time. Sure, you might squeeze out another year or two, but newer models are so much better that you’re probably losing money by waiting.
They’re more efficient, which means lower bills every month, and let’s be honest, an old unit is going to fail eventually, probably on the coldest day of the year when you really need it.
We handle everything when we do a replacement. We’ll haul out your old unit (those things are heavy), get the new one installed properly, and make sure all the connections are up to code. Most straightforward replacements take us just a few hours, so you won’t be without hot water for long.

Tank vs. Tankless: What's the Real Difference?

This is one of the first questions people ask us. Traditional tank water heaters are pretty straightforward, they keep 30 to 80 gallons of hot water ready to go at all times. They’re reliable, they’re affordable to install, and everybody knows how they work.
Tankless water heaters are different. They heat water right when you need it instead of storing it. They take up way less space (you can mount them on a wall), they last longer, and they can cut your energy costs by a third. Sounds great, right?
But here’s the thing: they cost more upfront, and they’re not always the best fit. Got a big family where everyone’s showering, running laundry, and doing dishes all at the same time? A tankless system might struggle to keep up unless you get a really high-end model or install multiple units. For a smaller household or if you’re tight on space, though, tankless can be perfect.
We’ll sit down and talk through how your family actually uses hot water before making any recommendations. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here.

Install Water Heaters Sized Right for Your Home

One of the biggest mistakes we see is people installing the wrong size water heater. Too small, and you’re constantly running out of hot water. Too big, and you’re heating water you’ll never use, just wasting energy and money.

A retired couple living alone has very different needs from a family with three teenagers who each take 20-minute showers.

We actually calculate your household’s needs instead of just guessing. How many people live there? Do you take baths or showers?
Does everyone get ready at the same time in the morning? These details matter.

What You'll Actually Pay When Replacing Your Water Heater in Inglis

Price is always on people’s minds, and we get it. Water heater installation costs depend on what kind of system you’re getting, whether it runs on gas or electricity, and what your current setup looks like.
Tank water heaters cost less to buy and install, but they can be more expensive to run month after month. Tankless systems hit your wallet harder upfront, but often pay for themselves over time through energy savings.

We give you the full price before we start any work, no surprises, no hidden fees. If your house needs extra work, like upgrading gas lines or changing the venting, we’ll explain why it’s needed and what it’ll cost before we do anything.

We'll Come Out Today If You Need Us

A dead water heater can’t wait until next week. That’s why we do same-day service whenever we possibly can. For repairs, we can usually get to you the same day you call. For installations, if we have the right unit in stock, we can often get you up and running the same day, too.
We cover all of Inglis plus the surrounding communities in Levy and Citrus counties. When you call our office, you’ll talk to an actual person who can get you scheduled right away, not some automated menu or call center three states away.

FAQs

How long does water heater installation take?

For a basic tank swap, we’re usually in and out in three to five hours. That includes unhooking the old one, getting it out of there (they’re heavier than they look), installing the new one, hooking everything up, and testing it to make sure it works right.

Tankless installations take longer, especially if we need to upgrade your gas line or electrical panel. We’ll give you a heads-up on timing once we see what you’ve got.

The old rule of thumb says 10-15 gallons per person for tank systems. So a family of four usually needs something in the 50-60 gallon range. But that’s just a starting point. If everyone showers in the morning and you’re running the dishwasher and doing laundry every day, you might need more.

We’d rather take five minutes to figure out what you actually need than have you call us back in a month, saying you keep running out of hot water.

You can, but it’s not always a simple swap. Tankless units need a proper gas supply and venting, which might mean upgrading your gas lines. If you’re looking at electric tankless, your electrical panel might need work because they pull a lot of power.

We’ll check out what you’ve currently got and let you know what it would take to make the switch. Sometimes it’s straightforward, sometimes it’s more involved.

Get it serviced every year. That’s the big one. Flushing out the sediment, checking the anode rod, and testing the pressure valve, these things catch small problems before they turn into big ones. The hard water we have around Inglis is rough on water heaters, so that yearly flush really matters.

Some folks also install water softeners, which can help a lot if you’ve got really hard water.

We warranty our work, and every new water heater comes with a manufacturer’s warranty that covers the tank and parts. How long it depends on which model you get; some are 6 years, some are 12 years. We’ll walk you through exactly what’s covered.

If something does go wrong down the line, you just call us. We handle all the warranty stuff so you don’t have to deal with the manufacturer directly.

We work with all the major brands: Rheem, A.O. Smith, Bradford White, Rinnai, Navien, you name it. Each one has pros and cons, and honestly, we’re not married to any particular brand. We’ll recommend what makes sense for your situation and your budget. And if you already have a brand you like, we can work with that too.

We’ve been installing and fixing these things long enough that we know them all inside and out.
